Log Weight Calculator Help

This calculator will compute the weight of a green (fresh cut) log using the Smalian Formula (the official log scaling rule for the Province of British Columbia.)

1. Select the type of tree by scrolling through the list above and clicking on the correct tree type.
2. Enter the Top and Bottom diameters using Imperial or Metric units in any one of the following formats:
   • 120" or 120 for inches (default)
   • 8' or 8ft for feet
   • 8-1/2' fractional feet
   • 8' 10" or just 8'10 for ft. and in.
   • 4' 3-3/4" (fractional inches Ok)
   • 120cm for centimetres
   • 8.5m for decimal meters
3. Click the bottom button to Calculate Log Weight.
